Regional Ambassadors
Many students and their families come to Pitzer from regions outside of California and desire to remain connected to the College. Our Regional Ambassadors act as the College’s liaisons by engaging families in their area and serving as a host for Pitzer gatherings. Ambassadors are desired in the Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle areas. Volunteers serve in the following ways:
• Make calls to parents and families to invite them to Pitzer events in your area
• Host Summer Welcome Receptions or alumni-parent events
• Serve as a local contact for Pitzer families in your area
Campus Event Ambassadors
Volunteering at campus events provides an excellent opportunity to assist the College while remaining connected to your son or daughter during his or her stay at Pitzer. Parents may help plan and provide programmatic support for any of the following events:
Parent Orientation
Parent Orientation is a wonderful opportunity for new parents to learn about Pitzer College and get acquainted with the campus. Volunteers serve in the following ways:
• Greet parents and assist with registration
• Participate in information sessions
• Make calls to welcome new students and parents, invite them to Summer Welcome Receptions and answer questions about the College
Family Weekend
All parents and family members of Pitzer students are invited to campus for this annual event held in February. This event is a great opportunity for students to share their life at Pitzer with loved ones. Volunteers serve in the following ways:
• Greet parents and assist with registration
• Participate in information sessions
• Make calls to invite fellow parents to Family Weekend
Parent Fund Ambassadors
Contributions to the Parent Fund, among other generous donations, enable Pitzer to maintain and strengthen a number of important programs, including financial aid, faculty research, study abroad and student services. Volunteers for the Parent Fund serve in the following ways:
• Contribute personally to the Parent Fund
• Make phone calls to invite other parents to support the College financially
• Serve as a Parent Fund representative at Pitzer events
Parent Leadership Council
The Parent Leadership Council (PLC) serves as the leadership volunteer organization for the Pitzer College Parents Association. The PLC supports the efforts of the Office of Parent Relations and assists with the design and implementation of programs that provide connections to families of Pitzer students and alumni.
For information regarding these parent volunteer opportunities, please contact the Office of Parent Relations at 909.621.8130 or parents@pitzer.edu.
