More about our speakers

Tim Schifter ’80 is chair and CEO of Schifter + Partners, an accessories company he founded with Gwen Stefani, singer, songwriter and member of rock band No Doubt.

Following his graduation from Pitzer as a political science major, Schifter started his fashion career at LeSportsac, which was founded by his father. He took the reins when his father retired, and grew LeSportsac into a $100 million company. Following its sale in 2006, he founded Schifter + Partners with Stefani. Together, they design and manufacture handbags, small leather goods and computer accessories under the L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers brands.

It was at Pitzer that Schifter became interested in the business of fashion. He studied in Rome and observed, “I always appreciated fashion, but experiencing the Italian passion for great design brought it home for me on a large and profound scale.”

A husband, father and executive, Schifter says that his personal and professional lives are inseparable—both are centered around his love of art, culture and new experiences: “To be successful, you have to have a passion for what you do. As a father, I believe that the best thing I can do for my daughter is to introduce her to new experiences and people who excel at what they do.”

Honor Brodie '93 graduated from Pitzer College with a degree in American Studies. She began her career at the talent agency, International Creative Management. In 1995, she switched to working in magazines—first at the Los Angeles bureau of Vanity Fair and then at In Style. As In Style’s West Coast Correspondent, she covered the red carpet and booked celebrities. In 1999 she was promoted to Senior Writer to write features and cover stories. In 2001 she moved to the New York office where as Assistant Managing Editor she conceptualized, assigned and edited many of the magazine's most popular issues.

In 2008 Honor joined Tory Burch as Editor in Chief where she currently oversees the look, feel and content of toryburch.com as well as the brand’s social media. The site covers tastemakers, pop culture, fashion trends, travel and entertaining. “As someone who has spent my entire career as a writer and editor the most exciting place to me right now is where content meets commerce,” says Brodie. “Today’s consumers look to brands like ours for advice, inspiration and entertainment.”

Honor lives in New York City with her husband, John and their two children.

Elysha Lenkin ’93  has been a New York City-based fashion stylist for over 10 years. Throughout her career she has worked with a variety of clients including major brands; AT&T and Huggies, retail stores; Aeropostale and TJ Maxx, popular magazines; Parents and Time Out, and celebrities; the cast of the Jersey Shore, Tina Fey and Carrie Underwood to name a few.

Before entering the world of fashion, Elysha was a contributing journalist for trend-setting magazines URB and Index.  She started styling upon the insistence of her photographer friends, who recognized Elysha’s eye for style and knack for spotting trends in fashion, music and travel.

Last year, Elysha decided to combine her writing and styling skills by launching the blog; EyeHeartStyle.
Elysha  lives with her family on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Crosby Noricks ’01 was a media studies and gender/feminist studies major at Pitzer College. With an eye toward the fashion world, she spent a semester studying abroad at the London College of Fashion. After graduation, she managed the in-house PR and marketing department for an e-commerce jewelry company while completing her master’s degree in mass communication and media studies at San Diego State University. Her thesis focused on public relations practice in the fashion industry. Noricks launched PR Couture, an online site dedicated to exploring the ever-evolving role of public relations, marketing and social media in the fashion industry in 2006.

Since the start of PR Couture, many doors have opened for Crosby including the opportunity to attend New York Fashion Week to cover the shows for Microsoft and she was named "Blogger of the Year" at the inaugural InfluenceSD Awards. She has interviewed and worked with numerous industry notables from Marie Claire to Cynthia Rowley, and regularly speaks about digital fashion PR and social media at industry and student conferences.

In addition to managing PR Couture, Crosby works as the senior social media strategist for Red Door Interactive, an Internet Presence Management Company where her work with Charlotte Russe was hailed as a "social media supernova," in USA Today.
